CPHC Featured Event:

The Center for Personalized Health Care (CPHC) at the Ohio State University will host its inaugural National Conference on Personalized Health Care on October 16 and 17, 2008.  The conference will be held at the Biomedical Research Tower conference facility at the Ohio State University.  The major theme of the conference is "translating science into personalized health care".  It will serve as a national forum to discuss the emerging trends and latest developments in personalized health care research and its translation into patient care practices.  The conference features:

• Academic panel discussions focusing on the latest scientific breakthroughs towards clinical applications and the current practice in personalized medicine
•  Industry panel comprised of experts from biopharmaceutical and diagnostic sectors to discuss how personalized medicine is changing strategies for new drug and diagnostic tool development
• A roundtable with health plan leaders, patient advocates, and government representatives to address the opportunities and challenges of integrating personalized health care to create a value-based, patient-centric health care system

Attendees will gain an understanding of the following objectives:

1. Learn the latest developments in personalized health care research and clinical practice
2. Understand the legal, regulatory, and economic implications in developing personalized medicine
3. Discuss future directions and challenges as personalized health care receives greater attention from the medical community
